PRODUCT REVIEW: Oedro Jeep JK Floormats

Posted by

Remember getting socks for a gift when you were a kid? It was pretty awful, considering you probably asked for Hot Wheels. Fast forward a few decades, and suddenly you’re giddy when you unbox some quality wool footwear.

In the automotive accessory world, floormats might be the new socks. Those thin, nubby-backed mats have evolved into well-fitted, functional floorliners that tell the world you’re serious about protecting your floor and your carpets.

Oedro is a relative newcomer to this automotive floor mat and floorliner space, billing itself as a “leading supplier and manufacturer of floormats, tonneau covers and running boards” for Jeep Wranglers, Ford F-series trucks, Rams, and Chevy Silverado.

As I unboxed a set provided by Oedro, my Jeep buddies were quick to jump in with their thoughts on floor mat design in general. Several mentioned gaps—the annoying space between the mat and the footwell—as a major disappointment, along with liners being too stiff to easily remove for cleaning.

Sure enough, my old mats were guilty of gaps. Making sure dirt, gravel, an errant dime, and a Goetze wrapper stayed put wasn’t a challenge, but the gaps along the edges of my old mats were a gaping maw. And that’s precisely where I had damp carpeting and enough dirt to grow a sack of potatoes.

The Oedro mats were an instant improvement, fitting snugly in the footwell.

Oedro’s design has fewer channels than some competitors, so if you want a more beefy look, this may not be your first choice. Functionally, they are up to the task of handling spills and muddy boots. The design is understated, but handsome enough to show you’ve upgraded. There are enough channels to trap the detritus of commuter life and off-roading, the edges fit, and the overall coverage is substantial enough that it will likely handle anything this side of a Big Gulp. The Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) material is substantial, with a slightly rubbery feel, without being stiff.

The logo is well-secured, and the fastening points look up to the task in the durability department for frequent removal, cleaning, and reinstallation. Note that the Wrangler JK mats only fit 2014-18 models due to the safety hook configuration.

Installation took about a minute or two per side including the time to post the pictures for my friends. I used them for two weeks. A long term test would tell whether the fit holds up or if they deform.

Oedro lists the four door Wrangler mat set at $84.99 on their site, but as of this publication date has them on sale on their web site for $48.99. Prices for other vehicles range from an MSRP of $79.99 to $150.99. The company offers a limited lifetime warranty on the mats, and a 30 day no-questions-asked return window if you don’t like them.
