Opening October 10, The Judge stars Robert Downey, Jr., Robert Duvall and Billy Bob Thornton. It also features a yellow 1972 Cadillac Sedan DeVille in a pivotal role, if the trailer is any indication.
The premise of The Judge is this: “Big city lawyer Hank Palmer returns to his childhood home where his father, the town’s judge, is suspected of murder. Hank sets out to discover the truth and, along the way, reconnects with his estranged family.”
The murder the judge — Robert Duvall — is accused of committing isn’t via the gun, the rope or the candlestick. No, his supposed weapon of choice is a 1972 Cadillac Sedan DeVille.
The 1972 Cadillac is relatively distinctive. In 1972 and 1973, Cadillacs featured quad headlamps, split by a vertical, rectangular turn signal, but 1972 was the only year that the bumper overriders were spaced that closely together.
The trailer also features a quick shot of a 1973 to 1979 Chevrolet pickup:
This scene was shot on location in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, with that town doubling as a small town in Indiana. Many of the other scenes were shot in and around Worcester and Dedham, Massachusetts.
Looking forward to seeing this movie, for the cars and the locations.
