Yesterday, Jaguar introduced its highly anticipated new model, the upcoming Jaguar XE at London’s Earl’s Court, site of the launch of iconic Jaguar models like the XKE and the XK120. We’ve got 32 photos that show the car from every detail, and from here, it looks smashing.
The Jaguar XE S will be equipped with a 340hp supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine — same as that in the Jaguar F-Type — with a 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
It’s a front engine, rear wheel drive layout, with the possibility of an all-wheel drive model in the future. It’s really the first Jaguar to truly present a strong front against the BMW 3-Series, which has dominated the entry-luxury class for generations. Previous Jaguar models like the Jaguar X-Type were ostensibly 3-Series fighters, but if this has any of the F-Type’s DNA, look out.
The Jaguar XE will arrives around the world in the 2015 model year, and in North America for the 2016 model year.
