Lincoln Continental Seats

It’s important to be comfortable in your car. This means you must be able to easily reach the controls, have plenty of room for your arms, legs, and shoulders, and have a seat that can be adjusted to accommodate any size. How about 30-way adjustable seats that adjust each butt cheek independently?

Luxury cars tend to have more seat settings with features including heating, cooling, and massage, but the Lincoln Continental is showing up everyone with 30-way adjustable seats with different settings for each butt cheek. If it sounds completely over-the-top, that’s because it is, but it also makes a lot of sense.

We’re used to adjusting both cheeks at once, but we never sit with both sides of our bodies perfectly aligned. Driving means putting one foot on the gas or brake, most of the time, and leaving the other foot doing nothing. If you’re driving a stick, then things are different, but you’re still not doing the same thing with both feet.

Doing different things with your feet means your legs are in different positions. Especially on a long road trip, one leg is straight with a foot on the gas while the other does nothing. It makes sense to adjust how the two sides of your body are supported independently from each other.

This could come in especially handy for those who have back, leg, or neck pain. Instead of sitting oddly to get the right support on the side where it’s needed, this seat could allow the driver to sit normally and adjust the seat to reduce aches and pains. The design is based off of seating in first-class and private jet cabins and will feature heating, cooling, and rolling-pattern massage.

These snazzy seats were first shown off at the New York Auto Show in the Lincoln Continental Concept, but according to Cnet, are nearly production ready. The driver, passenger, and even rear seat occupants will all have their own highly adjustable seats to make even the longest rides comfortable.

The new Lincoln Continental is set to make its debut next year and it is a big deal for Lincoln. The car that was shown at the New York Auto Show and was clearly described as a concept, as though they didn’t want to over commit to the fancy car spinning around on the stage. The bold design resurrects the Continental name and they clearly don’t want to mess it up.

The final version of the Continental may or may not resemble what was seen in New York. With 30-way adjustable seats straight out of a private jet, the rest of the car better be something special to keep up.
