Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve already heard that Hillary Clinton has officially announced her candidacy for President of the United States. There was a lot of talk about her logo, but even more talk about her official van which she’s dubbed the ‘Scooby Van.’
It’s a mystery why she has chosen to give it this moniker because it doesn’t make sense. The van she’s referencing was actually The Mystery Machine and it was green with a psychedelic logo on the side where Clinton’s van is black. It’s really much more The A-Team than Scooby Doo, but it’s her van so it’s her call.
The media has latched onto this name as Clinton begins her campaign, and an unexpected change at her first campaign event in Iowa resulted in some hilarious commentary. She arrived in her Scooby Van, but not at the door where the media had camped out to snap her every move.
It all starts with a reporter narrating the Scooby Van’s arrival which makes an unexpected swing to the rear entrance. The camera follows the van and hordes of reporters are seen sprinting across the lawn.
There are women in skirts and high heels, guys with over-sized backpacks, and one guy carrying a huge camera and a step stool. A particularly impressive showing comes from one man that will be forever known as Orange Pants.
It ends up with all of them squished against a fence trying to catch a shot of Clinton with their cameras held up over the fence edge. That guy with the step stool is looking pretty smart now.
The Chevrolet Express conversion van does it’s job, but gets very little screen time. This leaves us with lots of questions like how well-equipped is that interior, and are there cute little curtains hanging on the windows? We may get answers to those questions as the campaign continues, but one burning question remains.
Who is Orange Pants and did he get the shot?
