Dodge has extended its partnership with Universal for the upcoming Furious 7, the most recent installment in the Fast and Furious franchise of films.
The automaker has been a part of the franchise since the very first film, but this time the arrangement will extend beyond the film into music as well. Atlantic Records will be releasing the movie’s soundtrack and also working on music videos in partnership with Dodge.
The movie is set to hit theaters on April 3rd and will feature the 2015 Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger R/T, and an armored Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The soundtrack will be available ahead of the movie’s release on March 17th.
Vin Diesel in his role as Dominic Toretto will be behind the wheel of a Candy Red 2015 Dodge Charger in the film’s chase scenes. A Sublime Green and Black 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T will be driven by Michelle Rodriques as Letty Ortiz and Ludacris will be getting the 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in his role as Tej Parker.
Those are just the three cars that the stars of the movie will drive, but there are a lot more than that throughout the film. All together there were nearly 30 vehicles provided by FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and even more appearing in the videos.
The partnership with Atlantic Records is a unique chance for Dodge to show off both its new offerings and some of its classics. The music videos will feature the Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats, and the Dodge Viper GTS right alongside vintage Dodge vehicles.
There will also be a series of television ads to promote the movie, starting with a spot called Flash to the Future. It starts out with a guy walking into a Dodge dealership to check out the cars when he’s suddenly transported right into the movie. Don’t expect that to happen when you walk into the dealership.
Dodge has created a special landing page to promote its cars and the movie where you can learn more about the vehicles seen on-screen.
Release of the movie is a little bittersweet for fans as one of its stars, Paul Walker, was killed in a car accident unrelated to the movie during filming. Although filming was put on hiatus, those involved decided that they wanted to finish the movie which will feature scenes filmed by Walker before his death.
