The Polaris Slingshot: Badass, But Maybe Not for Winter

Posted by

For 2015, Polaris developed something called the Slingshot. It’s classified as a “three-wheeled motorcycle,” but it’s got a steering wheel, sports car seats, seat belts and some modicum of passenger protection. What this photo shows, though, is that with foul weather pounding the upper Midwest this week, it’s not exactly made for winter.

The Slingshot looks like a blast for carving canyons and making twisty roads straight.

But when the snow falls, it’s probably something you should stash under your porch.

This one is the $23,000, 173hp Slingshot SL, which features Slingshot Red Pearl Paint, a Blade Windshield, Premium 18” Forged-Aluminum Front Wheels, a 20” Forged-Aluminum Rear Wheel, and a Media Console with a 4.3” LCD Screen, Backup Camera, 6 Speaker Audio System, Bluetooth® Integration.

Unfortunately for the Minnesota resident driving this one, it also features about six inches of snow in the passenger compartment. That’s gonna be a chilly ride home.

According to Polaris, the lightweight Slingshot comes with waterproof seats, which will make chipping the ice out of it a lot easier come springtime.

Luckily, Polaris has a whole line of snowmobiles, ATVs and side-by-sides to tow the Slingshot into the garage until the sun shines in Minnesota again.
