The All-New 2019 Volkswagen Jetta Gets a Price Drop

Volkswagen is introducing an all-new Jetta for 2019, which usually means a price increase. Instead, it’s the reverse with the base price of the new Jetta coming in below that of the outgoing model.

The base Volkswagen Jetta starts at $18,545 marking a $100 price drop. It includes standard 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, automatic headlights, and multi-function steering wheel. There’s also a 6.5-inch color touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink.

Power comes from a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine with 147 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. This is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission with an optional 8-speed automatic that becomes standard on higher trims. Jettas equipped with the automatic also feature start/stop technology that turns off the engine when the car is stopped in order to conserve fuel. Adding the automatic transmission takes the base model up to $19,345.

The Jetta SE starts at $22,155 with a standard 8-speed automatic, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, keyless entry, and leatherette seating. There are also heated front seats and blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.

Next up is the Jetta R-Line with a starting price of $22,995. This trim adds 17-inch dark gray aluminum-alloy wheels, a gloss-black grille, R-Line rear bumper, dual exhaust, fog lights, and black mirror caps. There’s also R-Line badging inside and outside, an R-Line multifunction steering wheel with contrast stitching, and an electronic differential. Seating gets its own special treatment in black and gray with contrast stitching like the steering wheel.

The Jetta SEL adds on to the SE trim with a starting price of $24,415. It includes LED projector headlights with signature LED daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rearview mirror, drive mode selection, customizable ambient lighting, and a 10.25-inch customizable cockpit display. There’s also a 400-watt BeatsAudio sound system with 8 speakers and a subwoofer and a larger 8-inch touchscreen. Additional driver assist features include adaptive cruise control, high beam control, and lane keep assist.

At the top of the lineup is the Jetta SEL Premium with a starting price of $26,945. It has 17-inch two-tone aluminum-alloy wheels, an R-Line rear bumper, fog lights, and side mirrors with integrated turn signals. There are also leather sport seats that are ventilated for front passengers with memory for the drivers side.

The all-new 2019 Volkswagen Jetta is set to go on sale before the end of June.
