NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V514000
Ford Recall Campaign Number: 14518
Vehicles Affected: Certain 2014 Ford Focus and C-Max vehicles manufactured from August 8, 2014 through August 15, 2014. Approximately 508 vehicles are expected for inclusion under the conditions of this recall campaign.
Cause: The steering gears may have been incorrectly assembled with only 21 of the 84 ball bearings required for proper operation.
Concern: The ball bearings in the steering gear may become misshaped and distorted due to the inappropriate number included. This could cause the steering gear to fail resulting in a loss of power steering assist and/or steering control. This could obviously increase the risk of a motor vehicle crash.
Correction: Ford will notify owners by mail with specific instructions for having the faulty steering gear replaced, free of charge. This recall campaign is expected to begin on October 8, 2014 and vehicle owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673.
NOTE: If you own or regularly operate a vehicle included in this recall, please use care when driving and avoid aggressive maneuvers that could place undue stress upon the steering gear. Secure small children in the back seat and always wear your safety belts.
NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V425000
Aston Martin Recall Campaign Number: RA-07-0018
Vehicles Affected: Certain 2014 Aston Martin DB9 and Rapide S vehicles manufactured from June 2013 through July 2014. Approximately 440 vehicles are expected for inclusion in this recall campaign.
Cause: A faulty circuit board used to control transmission function in the affected vehicles may inadvertently cause the transmission to shift to neutral without input from the driver.
Concern: An unexpected sudden shift to neutral could create a scenario in which the vehicle is not under power. This condition could place the vehicle in a precarious position without the ability to move, resulting in the increased risk of a motor vehicle crash.
Correction: Aston Martin will notify owners with detailed instructions for having the faulty transmission control components replaced, free of charge. This recall campaign is expected to begin in August 2014 and vehicle owners may contact Aston Martin customer service at 1-800-923-9988.
NOTE: If the vehicle exhibits this problem, owners are advised to turn off the ignition and then restart the car which may allow the car to be driven out of harm’s way. Be particularly cautious when parking your affected Aston Martin as well. Always use the parking brake and never leave the vehicle unattended while the engine is running.
