Some people want a fast muscle car, but other people need to be more practical. They need an SUV to hold the kids and all their stuff. For those who aren’t willing to give up their need for speed, there’s the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, but it comes at a price.
Pricing starts at $85,900 if you want to get your hands on the most powerful, quickest SUV ever. It has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that produces 707 horsepower with 645 lb-ft of torque. That ought to take care of your need for speed quite nicely.
It posts a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds and does the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds. Top speed is 180 mph. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s eight-speed automatic transmission and driveline are specially engineered to handle the torque output of this beast. A special Launch Control mode manages the engine, transmission, driveline, and suspension for consistent straight-line acceleration.
When you do decide to slow down, there are bright yellow Brembo brakes with the largest front brakes to ever be featured on a Jeep. They’ll take you from 60-0 mph in 114 feet.
In addition to its impressive performance numbers, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk also has Quadra-Trac on-demand four-wheel drive with an electronic limited slip differential and a single-speed active transfer case. The Selec-Track allows for five different drive modes. Choose from Auto, Sport, Track, Snow, and Tow depending on driving conditions. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk can tow up to 7,200 pounds.
The ride height is one inch lower than it is on non-SRT Grand Cherokee models and there’s a sculpted hood with dual heat extractors. You’ll also notice the fog lights are missing. This allows for optimized airflow to cool modules and air induction while still keeping the vehicle balanced. A “Supercharged” badge on the front doors and “Trackhawk” badge on the liftgate further differentiate this model from the rest.
There are also plenty of options to take your very fast, very capable SUV and turn it into more of a luxury vehicle. A dual-pane panoramic sunroof, Signature Leather Interior Package with either black or red leather, 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and dual-screen rear-seat entertainment are available. You can even add red seatbelts to make you really feel like you’re taking a seat in a race car.
Ordering for the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk opens on August 10 at your local Jeep dealer.
