Certain cars have fan followings one might describe as rabid. Fans of the Jeep Wrangler fall into that category and every one of them is currently salivating at the sneak peeks Jeep is giving us of the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler.
Jeep unveiled their off-road champ at SEMA last week in Las Vegas, but initially gave us only a look at the outside of the car and confirmed few details. They did share that the new Wrangler has a fold-down windshield, better aerodynamics, and a whole bunch of door and top combinations.
The exterior is slightly updated, but still very much a Wrangler with the slotted grille and round headlights, which is what everyone expected and hoped. No one wants the Wrangler to suddenly start looking like some concept car of the future.
Here’s Jeep’s official announcement on the new Wrangler.
The most capable SUV ever delivers even more legendary Jeep 4×4 capability, a modern design that stays true to the original, advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, more open-air options, and is loaded with more safety features and advanced technology than ever before. The all-new Wrangler’s interior design combines authentic styling, precision craftsmanship and high-quality materials that result in improved versatility and comfort for drivers and passengers. The all-new Wrangler’s unique design includes an instantly recognizable keystone-shaped grille, iconic round headlamps and square tail lamps, improved aerodynamics, a convenient fold-down windshield for off-road purists, even more open-air freedom, and dozens of different door, top and windshield combinations.
Just this week Jeep added to the frenzy by releasing new interior shots of the car. No matter how much you love the existing Wrangler, you can’t deny it’s in need of an update. The new Wrangler looks better, more modern, and more fun.
The steering wheel and infotainment system are updated, the dashboard gets colorful trim to match the body, and there are lots of silver accents. It’s brighter and more appealing, but it doesn’t get so fancy as to loose its rugged Jeep appeal.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler appears to be a very natural evolution without going too crazy and alienating fans. As to what’s under the hood, Jeep is still being cagey about those details.
The full reveal with all the specs isn’t too far off with a debut set for November 29 at the LA Auto Show. Just sit tight a bit longer Jeep fans, your new Wrangler is almost here.
