The average Jeep Wrangler doesn’t look the way it did when it left the dealership lot. That’s because most people end up customizing their Wranglers, especially if they’re planning on some serious off-road adventuring. In recognition of all those custom Wranglers, Jeep decided to launch a competition to see what a group of celebrities and custom specialists could come up with given their own Jeep Wranglers.
Jeep Wrangler Celebrity Customs is a first-ever web series competition hosted by ABC/ESPN analyst and former NBA star Jalen Rose. The six-episode series includes a diverse group of celebrities and follows their progress as they try to create the best custom Wrangler.
There’s baseball’s Alex Rodriquez who is teamed up with Ryan Friedlinghaus of West Coast Customs. He wants a Jeep that he can use for both his business life and his personal time away from the office.
His competition includes Maria Menounous, who has always wanted a Wrangler but never owned one. She’s working with David Tonapetyan of DCD Customs, which specializes in Wrangler customizations. She wants a Wrangler that that will fit her lifestyle while also being the perfect Wrangler for dog lovers.
The final competitors are Chris Stang and Andrew Steinthal, founders of restaurant site The Infatuation. They’re working with Stefano Loria of AutoCraft NYC to create a Wrangler perfect for roaming the streets of New York City. Three very different teams all with the same goal of creating a one-of-a-kind Jeep Wrangler that will win it all.
The debut episode aired on September 6 with and the finale is set for September 27 at a special event in Los Angeles. All the celebrities will be in attendance along with their custom Jeeps. The winner will receive the Wrangler Golden Grille Award.
