The Cadillac Escala is a gorgeous concept. Let’s take a closer look at its interior.
The Escala – sounds like Escalade, but means “scale” in Spanish – has a lovely set of exterior shapes and proportions.
Cadillac says it represents the brand’s future direction.
We just hope that future includes these neat tail lights.
The tail lights, and pretty much all of this delicious interior. Check out the tubular theme that carries from the turn-signal stalk to the rotating drum on the steering wheel. Truly cohesive design, the eye likes that.
We’re also digging the way the dash fabric carries to the steering column…
…to the steering wheel hub and spokes.
The sharp little buttons up front, the tiny airbag hub, the dark accent that rings all those steering wheel details – it’s brilliant. We like the status readouts on the dash, too.
Now it’s over to the door panel, where we see a remarkably original collection of shapes and contours.
The fabric continues to the backs of the seats. The Escala feels all-of-a-piece, with a harmoniousness throughout.
Here’s hoping these fine details find their way into Cadillac’s future models. In the meantime, the Escala concept sure is nice to view.
