The 2019 Buick Regal Avenir will be the third vehicle to join the exclusive Avenir lineup. Already known as a premium Brand, the Avenir sub-brand expands on that reputation with exclusive elements not found on other Buicks.
Buick launched Avenir in the U.S. with the Enclave SUV last year and it sells faster than every other Enclave trim accounting for 20 percent of all Enclaves sold. This year saw the addition of the Lacrosse Avenir, which is selling 70 percent faster than the rest of the Lacrosse trims. The success of these vehicles prompted the addition of the Regal Avenir, which will debut for the 2019 model year.
The idea behind the Avenir badge is to take some of the design elements from Buick’s concept cars and translate them for production vehicles. This doesn’t mean flashy or brash accents, but rather myriad small upgrades both inside and out that make Buicks with the Avenir name unique.
The Regal already sees a large number of buyers going for that top trim level. In fact, half of all Regal Sportbacks sold are the highest trim proving there’s a solid demand for these high-end vehicles. It’s not just a Buick thing, either. In the last four years, demand for midsize cars in the $30,000 to $40,000 range has increased 30 percent. It’s the perfect time for Buick to expand its Avenir options.
The upgraded look of the Regal Avenir includes a signature three-dimensional mesh upper grille inspired by Buick’s concept cars. There’s scripted Avenir badging on the front doors and 19-inch Pearl Nickel wheels that give it more presence.
Inside, there is a Whisper Beige color scheme with Ebony accents, diamond quilt stitching on the front seats, embroidered front seat headrests, and Avenir script on the sill plates. An Ebony theme is also available with either choice giving those who drive the Regal Avenir a decidedly upscale experience.
There’s also the first cloud-connected infotainment system ever featured on a Buick. It includes apps like Pandora and the ability to personalize vehicle features with profiles unique to each driver. You can even take those profiles with you and they’ll be applied to any compatible vehicle.
“Innovation comes standard with Avenir.” said Chris Hay, Product and Pricing director, Buick and GMC. “It is a place for us to showcase our ideas to promote occupant well-being before we roll them out to other vehicles in our portfolio. The Enclave Avenir was the first Buick with Evonik Acrylite exterior lighting, a rear camera mirror, and an ionizer, and now Buick’s latest infotainment interface will come standard with Regal Avenir.”
Pricing has yet to be announced and is expected with the 2019 Buick Regal Avenir arrives in dealerships early this fall.
