The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show with an all-new Pinnacle trim level and the addition of all-wheel drive. Even better, if you don’t want to wait until 2021 to get all-wheel drive, Chrysler is offering it for the 2020 model year late this spring.
The Pinnacle is a luxurious new trim level that’s loaded with luxury features. There are quilted Caramel Nappa leather seats in all three rows with removable lumbar pillows for the second-row captain’s chairs. The pillows are quilted on one side with a suede finish on the other and an embossed Chrysler logo.
This trim also has a new console design that offers best-in-class storage. It has two levels with a tray and a deeper storage area beneath. There’s also a large pass-through for holding larger items like laptops.
The full 2021 Pacifica lineup will also mark the debut of Uconnect 5, which is the latest edition of Chrysler’s infotainment system. It includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen that’s 20 percent larger than the previous screen. It’s also five times faster and now includes Alexa functionality.
On the safety front, the Pacifica has 97 standard safety features, which is the most in the industry including 14 features that are newly standard to the Paficia. Standard safety features include pedestrian automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, advanced brake assist, and rain-sensing wipers.
Those who live in winter climates will be most excited about the edition of all-wheel drive. No one wants to get stuck in the snow with kids and now you have a better chance of getting where you need to go when the roads are a mess.
The system engages automatically when it’s needed based on sensors that help determine when extra traction is required. Cold temperatures, heavy acceleration, abrupt steering inputs, rough road conditions, or slip detection at the front wheels all automatically activate the all-wheel drive system. It also engages when the car accelerates from a standing stop.
Dealerships will be taking orders for the 2021 Chrylser Pacifica in the fall with delivery by the end of the year. While the Pinnacle and upgraded Uconnect are only on 2021 models, all-wheel drive is coming sooner. You’ll be able to order a special 2020 Chrysler Pacifica AWD Launch Edition in the second quarter of this year with delivers slated for early summer. Pricing has yet to be announced.
