The Acura Precision Concept is a car that Acura suggests will shape the direction of all future Acura products. That means it’s not ready for production now, and not for a long time, if ever, but you should see Acura cars take on this look in the future.
“This is the future of Acura,” according to everyone who took the stage at the North American International Auto Show 2016. That suggests that you’ll see a lot of design elements from this car for the next 10 years or so, but it also suggests that it’s not going to be a car that Acura produces in the near future.
It features a wide stance with NSX-like haunches, performance jewel constellation headlights, and an open grille feeding air to the powertrain. Acura calls that grille “Diamond Pentagon,” and you can almost be guaranteed to see that filter down to every product in the Acura line in the near future. Acura also made serious note of the floating taillights, which you can also see showing up soon in future product launches.
The Precision Concept bets heavily on facial recognition technology. It’s a step beyond key recognition, in which the Precision Concept recognizes the driver, and then customizes the driver experience based on preferences the driver sets.
What is Acura Saying?
“The Acura Precision Concept is more than simply a concept vehicle, it is a design study model that literally will shape the direction of all future Acura products around our Precision Crafted Performance DNA,” said Dave Marek, Acura global creative director. “The Acura Precision Concept is the leading edge of a renewed commitment to delivering Precision Crafted Performance in every facet of the product experience and creating a powerful and very exciting direction for the next generation of Acura models.”
