Prior to the 1990s, Buick was a premium luxury brand, just a notch below Cadillac in terms of opulence. For the last 25 years, though, Buick has soldiered on with slightly nicer version of Chevrolet products. That appears to change with the Avenir Concept, a real premium luxury automobile with proportions that recall cars like the Buick Rivieras and Wildcats of the 1960s.
What does Buick say?
“Avenir embodies Buick design, which centers on effortless beauty and presence without pretense,” said Ed Welburn, vice president of General Motors Global Design. “It demonstrates the growing international reach of Buick and offers an exciting vision of where it can go.”
When does it go on sale?
The Buick Avenir is a pure concept, and there’s no word on whether or not Buick will build a production car like this or not. However, it will certainly point the direction for a lot of Buick designs going forward, and considering Buick’s impressive performance in Asia, a version of this car might have a shot of getting built at some point.
