North American International Auto Show 2015: 2017 Ford Raptor

Posted by

The big question everybody’s been asking since the all-aluminum F-150 debuted this year was, “Is there going to be a Raptor?” The press conference at the 2015 North American International Auto Show put the speculation to rest: Ford is building a 2017 Raptor. In the place of its gargantuan 6.2-liter V-8, though, it’s going to be sporting a turbocharged EcoBoost V-6. Like the Ford GT, it indicates that Ford may eventually be out of the V-8 business.

What Ford is Saying

“When we created the first Raptor, we set out to prove vehicle performance isn’t just measured on the street or at the track – off-road can be even more fun,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “The original Raptor, plus enhancements on the all-new F-150 set the bar for us to make the all-new Raptor better in every way.”

When Does It Go On Sale?

The 2017 Ford Raptor officially hits the streets in the fall of 2016.
