Making a stunning debut during the 2014 New York International Auto Show, the 2015 Audi RS-7 Dynamic Edition wowed automotive media onlookers Wednesday with its unique blend of high-performance swagger and luxurious sex-appeal. At a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $146,045 the exquisite and powerful sedans are scheduled to begin arriving in dealer showrooms in early summer 2014. Boasting a wide assortment of premium components which facilitate superior performance, including lightweight carbon-fiber elements, a fully adaptable sport tuned suspension, and an incredible engine complete with a free-flowing high-performance exhaust system, this little German is more than able to take on the Big Apple.
At the heart of this grandiose European sports sedan is a 560-horsepower 4.0-liter TFSI V8 engine that is capable of rocketing the RS-7 from 0 to 60 mph in only 3.7-seconds. With a respectable EPA fuel efficiency rating of 16 mpg city/27 mpg highway (19 mpg combined), this beauty is not subject to the controversial “gas-guzzler” tax placed on American consumers. Audi utilizes thermal management and cylinder deactivation technology to deactivate cylinders (during low to medium engine load requirement situations) by closing individual cylinder intake and exhaust valves via electromechanical actuators. In cylinder deactivation mode the engine uses 15-percent less fuel. Active engine mounts are used to reduce felt vibration between the four and eight-cylinder output changes.
Showcasing some of the available options in the Audi customization program that provides consumers with more resources than ever before possible to personalize their car, the Dynamic edition features specially designed safety belts that are crimson red in color with special stitching that is also a focal point for the rest of the interior. The black Valcona leather seating is rich and supple; adorned with the same crimson red honeycomb stitching as the safety belts. Crimson red stitching can also be found on the dash, shifter boot, center and door armrests, and along the edges of the center console. Carbon-fiber inlay accented by crimson red abounds inside the RS-7, serving to reiterate the car’s precise balance of performance and luxury.
In keeping with the focus on a competitive spirit, the 2015 Audi RS-7 Dynamic Edition will be offered in your choice of Ibis White, Suzuka Gray Metallic, Daytona Gray Pearl, or Phantom Black Pearl paint schemes. The exclusive design 21-inch gloss-black wheels, with Tornado Red brake calipers peeking through, give the car an even more competitive appearance and the large front air intakes combine with the unmistakable Audi grille in issuing a silent challenge to all who would dare the test of speed. A carbon-fiber splitter and diffuser, as well as a lightweight and extremely durable carbon-fiber engine cover complete the package that beckons to the driving enthusiast in me.
The RS-7 will use the Audi Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) suspension setup to achieve extraordinary feats of performance handling. This system makes use of three-stage adjustable hydraulic dampers to adapt the suspension feel and handling according to road and driving conditions. The DRC is integrated into the drive select system which controls the Quattro all-wheel drive, the rear-sport differential, and the dynamically adjustable power steering. These electronic systems function in unison to provide better ride comfort and more precise handling.
