Previously in limited global release, the Jaguar XE appeared at the 2015 LA Auto Show in preparation for its entry into the North American market.
What Is It?
The Jaguar XE is a compact luxury sedan that had been released in limited markets, but now the US and Canadian markets will have a crack at it with the 2017 model. With a $34,900 base price, the XE competes with the BMW 3 Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Cadillac ATS and other worthy contenders.
What Jaguar Says:
Ian Callum, Jaguar Director of Design:
“Our mission was to create an exciting and dynamic design clearly reflecting the XE positioning as a serious driver’s car. The cab-rearward proportions and tight packaging achieve that and give the XE the appearance of movement even when it is standing still. It bears a strong family resemblance to the F-TYPE and will stand apart in the crowd.”
What’s New For 2017:
- Torque on-demand all-wheel drive powertrain
- Driver Condition Monitor and other driver-assist safety systems
- Apple Watch connectivity
