Unique styling; terrific warranty; extensive standard equipment; strong value.
Thanks to the famous Pininfarina Design Studio, the 2007 Suzuki Forenza sedan and wagon boast styling that sets them apart from other economy-minded vehicles its size. The front end of the Forenza, which was revised last year, has a smooth, sporty appearance and is complemented by body-color bumpers, trim, and door handles. Wagons get a bright roof rails.
Both the sedan and wagon come with a 2.0L DOHC four-cylinder engine making 127 horsepower, offered with either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission features a "hold" button to prevent hunting between gears in hilly terrain.
The Forenza has front and rear stabilizer bars for good handling attributes, along with speed-sensitive power steering and 15-inch wheels. Front seat-mounted side air bags are standard, along with four-wheel disc brakes. ABS is optional.
Standard equipment includes air conditioning with a micron air filtration system, an MP3-compatible CD sound system with eight speakers, heated outside mirrors, metallic interior accents, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. Only a few options are available, arranged into two packages. The Convenience Package adds remote keyless entry and cruise control, and the Popular Package brings those two items plus a power tilt-and-slide sunroof.
Both models have seating for up to five, with a 60/40-split folding rear seatback for expanded cargo capacity. The wagon's impressive 24.4 cubic feet can be expanded to 61.8 cubic feet with the seat folded forward.
Forenza is covered by Suzuki's fully transferable, zero-deductible powertrain warranty, for seven years of 100,000 miles.
The Forenza is mechanically similar to the Reno hatchback; both are made in South Korea by GM Daewoo.
After Suzuki gave the Forenza a slight refresh for 2006, no significant changes have been made for 2007. Seat fabric has been upgraded.
The 2007 Suzuki Forenza sedan and wagon stand out in their respective classes with their attractive exterior styling, as well as for their generous standard equipment list and low prices. And like other Suzuki vehicles, the Forenza is covered by what Suzuki calls America's #1 Warranty, which provides powertrain coverage up to seven years or 100,000 miles.
