The 2008 Lincoln Mark LT offers buyers the best of both worlds--the luxury and comfort of a Lincoln sedan plus the go-anywhere, do-anything utility of a tough truck.
The Mark LT comes in two wheelbases--138.5 inches and 150.5 inches, and each is available in either two- or four-wheel drive. All models are four-door SuperCrew Cabs and powered by a 300-horsepower 5.4L V8 putting out 365 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed automatic with overdrive is standard, and when properly equipped, a Mark LT 4x2 can tow up to 9,000 pounds.
Standard across the range are power heated leather front seats with driver's side memory, an in-dash six-disc CD changer with MP3 capability and Sirius satellite radio, power windows and locks, a chrome grille, dual heated power mirrors with turn signals, halogen headlights, 18-inch aluminum wheels, wood interior trim, and electronic automatic temperature control.
Popular options on all Mark LTs include a power sliding rear window, a power one-touch moonroof, a reverse sensing system, 20-inch chromed aluminum wheels, a DVD-based navigation system, power adjustable pedals, and a rear parking camera. The 4x4 models feature electric shift-on-the-fly, while 4x2 trucks come with traction control assist.
Several packages can be ordered for the 2008 Mark LT. These include a Class IV Tow Package (with a limited-slip differential and seven-pin wiring harness), a Deluxe Power Package (with a power moonroof, power pedals, and power sliding rear windows), an Elite Package, and two Monochrome paint Appearance Packages.
Standard safety features include remote keyless entry, four-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, an anti-theft system, and dual-stage front air bags.
Pickup truck usability; powerful V8 engine; short or long-wheelbase versions; four full-sized doors; luxury interior.
The 2008 Lincoln Mark LT is basically unchanged, though there are a few differences to note. Light French Silk Clearcoat Metallic joins the color chart, navigation and 20-inch wheels are now available, and a rear parking camera is a new option. Satellite radio is now standard and remote engine start can be installed at dealerships.
The 2007 Lincoln Mark LT won praise from J.D. Power and Associates for Initial Quality, and as the full-sized luxury pickup truck is little changed for 2008, it's not a stretch to think it might take the award again. Though it is based on the Ford F-150, the Lincoln Mark LT has little competition as a luxury pickup, and it offers the versatility of a tough, go-anywhere workhorse with the added benefits of a comfortable boulevard cruiser.
