Proven powertrain; standard safety features; available all-wheel drive; attractive compact crossover design
The 2013 Chevrolet Captiva Sport is a 5-passenger compact crossover that offers consumers plenty of great features at an attractive price.
The Captiva Sport is offered in LS and LT models, with four trim packages available, including the all-wheel-drive LTZ. The LS models are powered by a 182-hp Ecotec 2.4L direct-injected 4-cylinder engine, while LT and LTZ models come standard with a 264-hp 3.0L direct-injected V6. Both engines are mated to an efficient 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on LS and LT, while LTZ models employ all-wheel drive.
Standard amenities include front bucket seats with passenger side fold-down, a 60/40 split folding rear seat, air conditioning, cruise control, remote keyless entry, tilt/telescopic steering column with steering wheel stereo controls and Bluetooth hands-free connectivity.
Available options include leather-appointed seating, heated front seats, power sunroof, a premium sound system, remote start, a rearview camera, automatic climate control and a towing package.
All Captiva Sports come with excellent standard safety features such as dual-stage front and side-impact airbags for driver and front passenger, head curtain side-impact airbags for front and rear outboard passengers, StabiliTrak stability control with traction control and electronic trailer sway control, a tire-pressure monitor and OnStar with six months of turn-by-turn navigation.
The Chevrolet Captiva gets a few new options for 2013. Parking lot fender benders should be reduced with the addition of rear park assist, while heated outside mirrors are now available. The inside mirror also receives attention with an optional auto-dimming function. New 17-inch alloy wheels have been introduced as well as a set of chrome 18-inchers. A couple of new colors have been introduced for 2013 as well: Champagne Silver Metallic and Silver Topaz Metallic.
The 2013 Chevrolet Captiva Sport should be a refreshing alternative in an already-crowded compact crossover market. Eco-conscious consumers will enjoy the efficiency of the 2.4L Ecotec engine, while the available V6 has more than enough power to get the Captiva up to speed quickly. Maximum cargo volume is an impressive 56.4 cubic feet and the vehicle can tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. Plenty of available options make it easy to outfit the Captiva Sport to suit just about any buyer.
