Luxuriously equipped interior; quiet ride, available V8 power.
The 2007 Buick Rainier uses a 291-horsepower 4.2L inline six-cylinder engine and a four-speed automatic transmission, and it is available with either rear- or four-wheel drive. An optional 302-horsepower 5.3L V8 with active fuel management can be ordered for $1,250. This engine produces 330 lb-ft of torque, and helps the Rainier tow up to 6,700 pounds.
The real story for the Rainier, though, is its use of GM's QuietTuning technology. Extra noise absorption materials in the engine area, the four doors and the quarter panels make for outstanding sound suppression inside the cabin and, consequently, a very quiet ride. A self-leveling rear air suspension smooths out the road, which also helps lessen the amount of noise that is transmitted to the interior.
The Rainier comes standard with a long list of features. OnStar, leather front seats, 17-inch aluminum wheels, automatic headlamps, heated mirrors, leather wrapped steering wheel with genuine wood trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, and remote keyless entry are just some of the standard items on the well appointed Buick Rainier. For safety the Rainier offers four-wheel anti-lock brakes and stability control.
Optional equipment includes a six-disc CD player, heated front seats, a power sunroof, XM satellite radio, and a Bose premium speaker system.
The 2007 Buick Rainier comes with GM's updated OnStar "turn by turn" navigation assistance. In addition, a tire pressure monitoring system is now standard and two new exterior colors are available.
Warranty coverage is increased for 2007, with a new five-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty that is fully transferable and includes roadside assistance for the full period.
The Rainier is expected to be replaced by the Enclave for the 2008 model year.
The 2007 Buick Rainier excels at creating a level of interior quiet and luxury that is usually unseen in the SUV segment. A comfortable ride is also standard, with rear load-leveling suspension. Traditional body-on-frame construction and an optional 302-horsepower V8 allow the Rainier to tow up to 6,700 pounds when properly equipped.
