Iconic styling; quattro all-wheel-drive; available TTS high-performance model
For 2015, the Audi TT is offered in both a coupe and roadster body style, both of which are built on Audi's improved aluminum space frame chassis, which consists of 69% aluminum, making it both lightweight and incredibly stiff.
Audi's signature quattro all-wheel-drive system is mated with an "s tronic" 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission in all versions of the TT and TTS. Powering the TT is a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 211 hp in standard guise or 265 hp when fitted to the more upscale and faster TTS. Both cars are quick, but the TTS is a dedicated performance car, where the standard TT is more of a relaxed touring car. Audi claims that the TTS is capable of reaching 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.
Both the TT and upscale TTS feature a healthy array of standard equipment, including an "Audi Concert" audio system with Bose speakers, a driver information system and an automatic climate control system in the coupe. Interiors have always been a highlight on the TT and the latest version is no different, with several stylized options all looking classy and sporty at the same time.
Optional 'xenon plus' HID headlamps are available with cornering technology and both the TT and TTS are available with Audi's S-line competition package, consisting of special design touches to the bumpers, air inlets and rear diffuser, special interior detailing, a rear wing, unique 18-inch wheels and a 10-mm lower ride height. Optional magnetic ride shocks can be switched between "normal" and "sport" modes and a sport button modifies steering boost and exhaust sound. Optional Napa leather gains a new thermal resistance treatment that cuts down on seat temperature significantly when left in the sun. Audi navigation, which comes with iPod integration, a parking assist system and driver information display, is a $1,950 option.
The Audi TT is unchanged going into 2015, though a major update for next year is in store and should be revealed in the coming months.
Underneath its iconic easily recognizable exterior, the TT comes with Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive, making it a superb all-weather handler, yet it maintains good all-around performance, with the turbocharged 2.0L engine pushing it to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds in standard TT guise. It competes with other stylish, European, luxury sports cars like the Mercedes SLK and the BMW Z4.
